U.S. TSA traveler throughput fell modestly last week
Arizona initial claims for unemployment insurance drifted down to 2,463 for the week ended September 27, down from 2,614 the prior week. That was down 33.0% over the year and down 34.4% from 2019.
U.S. weekly initial claims for unemployment insurance data will not be updated during the federal government shutdown.
The U.S. hotel occupancy rate fell to 65.6% for the week ended September 27, down from 68.1% the prior week. That was down 4.1% over the year and down 7.9% from 2019.
U.S. movie box office sales ticked up to $102.6 million for the week ending October 2, up from $100.0 million the prior week. That was down 15.1% over the year and down 21.8% from 2019. New movie releases were down 37.0% from 2019.
U.S. TSA traveler throughput fell modestly for the week ended September 27, reaching 17.1 million. That was down from 17.3 million the prior week. Throughput was up 1.3% over the year and up 5.5% from 2019.
Weekly data on Arizona new business applications continue to be published by the Census Bureau, but only on a monthly basis. In August, weekly new business applications ranged from 650 to 850. Overall, applications were up significantly over the year in July.
Data on seated diners at restaurants using the OpenTable app is no longer being updated to compare the current week to 2019 results.
As of October 15, 2022, Google stopped updating mobility data.
