Arizona initial claims for unemployment insurance drop during the holiday week
Arizona initial claims for unemployment insurance dropped to 1,533 for the week ended November 29, down from 2,368 the week before. That was down 22.7% over the year and down 39.3% from 2019.
U.S. weekly initial claims for unemployment insurance fell to 197,221 for the week ended November 29, down from 246,640 the prior week. That was down 6.6% over the year and down 9.0% from 2019.
The U.S. hotel occupancy rate fell to 49.8% for the week ended November 29, down from 58.2% the prior week. That was down 0.4% over the year and down 1.6% from 2019.
U.S. movie box office sales dropped to $227.8 million for the week ended December 4, down from $324.8 million the prior week. That was down 32.7% over the year but up 1.1% from 2019. New movie releases were down 43.6% from 2019.
U.S. TSA traveler throughput rose to 17.3 million for the week ended November 29, up from 16.6 million the prior week. That was down 0.4% over the year but up 8.9% from 2019.
Weekly data on Arizona new business applications continue to be published by the Census Bureau, but only on a monthly basis. Data for September has not been updated due to the federal government shutdown.
Data on seated diners at restaurants using the OpenTable app is no longer being updated to compare the current week to 2019 results.
As of October 15, 2022, Google stopped updating mobility data.
