U.S. TSA traveler throughput rose last week, rising 2.6% over the year
Arizona initial claims for unemployment insurance ticked up to 3,777 for the week ended March 22, up from 3,737 the prior week. That was up 12.4% over the year and up 11.0% from 2019.
U.S. initial claims for unemployment insurance fell for the week ended March 22 to 198,917. That was down from 207,398 the prior week but up 2.6% over the year. Claims were up 4.7% from 2019.
The U.S. hotel occupancy rate bounced up to 66.0% for the week ended March 22, up from 64.2% the prior week. That was up 1.1% over the year but down 5.2% from 2019.
U.S. movie box office sales rose to $100.6 million for the week ended March 27, up from $74.0 million the prior week. That was down 31.1% over the year and down 50.7% from 2019. New movie releases were down 49.3% from 2019.
U.S. TSA traveler throughput rose to 18.2 million for the week ended March 22, up from 17.4 million the prior week. That was up 2.6% over the year and up 8.3% from 2019.
Weekly data on Arizona new business applications continue to be published by the Census Bureau, but only on a monthly basis. In February, weekly new business applications ranged from 720 to 810. While new business applications started the month slowly, compared to a year ago, they picked up steam to close out the month.
Data on seated diners at restaurants using the OpenTable app is no longer being updated to compare the current week to 2019 results.
As of October 15, 2022, Google stopped updating mobility data.
