Net domestic migration stands as a fundamental benchmark illuminating the intricacies of a state's quality of life, affordability, and economic vitality. In the 2022 1-year American Community Survey (ACS), which offers detailed insights into migration patterns across different states and income brackets, net domestic migration emerges as a crucial lens to gauge societal dynamics. Examining the data in Exhibit 1, which displays net domestic migration among individuals aged 15 and up from 2021 to 2022, Arizona emerges as a noteworthy contender. With a net domestic migration of 65,408 individuals, Arizona secures the fourth-highest position in attracting domestic migrants. This statistic underscores the state's allure and resonates with its reputation as a prime destination for those seeking enhanced opportunities and a higher quality of life. 

Leading the pack in net domestic migration are Florida, Texas, and North Carolina, each boasting substantial net domestic inflows of residents. Florida, with an impressive net domestic migration figure of 209,417, solidifies its position as a magnet for domestic migrants, drawn by its favorable climate, robust economy, and diverse range of opportunities. Texas follows closely behind, with a net domestic migration tally of 128,319 individuals, indicative of its status as a hub for innovation and economic growth. North Carolina, with a net domestic migration of 69,246 individuals, demonstrates its appeal as an emerging economic powerhouse, offering a blend of urban sophistication and natural charm.

Arizona's economy thrives on attracting highly skilled professionals coveted by large and small businesses alike. Income brackets provide a complementary approach to measuring these sought-after individuals. Exhibit 2 scrutinizes the net domestic migration of individuals aged 15 and up who make more than $75,000 annually. Arizona secured sixth place in this measure, boasting a domestic net migration of 13,504. Florida, Texas, and Georgia performed best in this category, with 63,451, 21,555, and 16,744, respectively. Arizona's competitive standing in this regard reaffirms its status as a prime destination for professionals seeking both career advancement and a high quality of life. It reflects the state's robust economic infrastructure and conducive business environment, factors which continue to attract top talent from across the nation.
